Welcome to Summer Session I.

If you have questions about how to properly paraphrase the source material, take a look at this website:

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/619/01/

Here are some common mistakes I've seen from students in the past and that you should avoid:

  • Answer everything in complete sentences, whether the instructions call for an essay or not.
  • If the instructions call for an essay, include a brief introduction, make your points and finish with a brief conclusion.
  • Proofread your work before turning it in. If you catch the spelling, grammar and sentence structure problems yourself, your grade will be higher.
  • Copying and pasting anything without attribution is plagiarism. First time, you get a zero for the assignment. Second time, you're out of the class.
  • Make sure you're sending me all of your finished work, especially if it's close to deadline. We're moving fast here, and no time for extended conversation about what should have been in emails

A quick list of how-to submit work on a theme

  1. Have all your work done in one Microsoft Word document, to include quiz answers
  2. Attach that one document to your email
  3. The subject line should read Your name-HIST 1302-Theme 1
  4. Send it on or before the posted deadline to vbeckman-wilson@mail.accd.edu
