We're living on 10 acres that is choked with cedar, and there just isn't a chipper big enough to get rid of it all. living in an incorporated city means we can't burn, but there is a provision for a campfire for social gatherings. So we decided it was high time we built one.

Colin Smith, our very own master firepit building consultant
lends a hand with the finishing touches. He also brought
the ginormous track-driving auger to dig the hole in the
first place.

With friends like this, who needs to hire it out? All limestone used
in this project was dug out of the ground on our property.

The inside of the pit, which is about 3.5 feet deep with the wall.

The work crew takes a break when the thing is finished before
starting the celebration in earnest.

Lit up and ready to go!

Last weekend, with the help of intrepid builder Colin, we built a stone bench/table to match the rustic firepit.
